39 6127 headlight bulbs

Are the headlight bulbs on the 39 coupe different right from left.
I took mine apart and didn't mark them. They are both GE one is 10 22 and the other 23 20.
The filaments are way different.
I'm restoring the headlights in hopes of having a bit better night vision.

Lou: They should be the same bulb. If I read my parts book correctly, your car should use a double filament prefocused bulb # 2320. I know the 1022 is used in the 47 as a fog/turn signal bulb and I think the 1022 was used as a fog/ turn signal bulb through 52. Bulb 2320 is not hard too find but the 1022 is tough and a expensive bulb to find.        Bill

The attached chart is from the 37 Shop Manual.  The 38 Shop Manual Supplement says that 1938 is the same as 37. 

So now the question is; is 39 the same as 37/38.

Lou & Glen: The attached pages from the Master Parts book shows a 1939 Cadillac model 61 uses two 2320 bulbs which has a candle power rating of 32-21 but nothing about using a 2530 bulb which has a candle power rating of 50-32. If you are after better lighting then I would use the 2530 bulb provided that when the 2530 bulb is secured to the headlight socket that the dual filament bulb tips are making contact with the dual socket connectors. Lou- the 1022 bulb you found in the headlamp has a candle power rating of 32-21 the same as the 2320 bulb. So maybe someone before you, substituted a 1022 for a 2320 bulb.  Bill

I should probably go with the 2530 since they have more candlepower and I think that means brighter.
Now I have to figure out if the contacts are the same.
I found a source that has the 2530 and 2330 but not the 2320 to compare the contacts too.
My parts book only has the 2320 listed.
If anyone knows if they are the same please chime in!

I had Bill at Bob's Automobilia take a 2530 bulb out of the box and compare with me on the phone.
We concluded that the contacts were in the same place as the 2320  and that the only difference was the candlepower,so I ordered them.
