Hi,
Can anyone tell me if any other frames would interchange with a '57 short deck sedan ? would a '57 coupe or 58 sedan frame work ? Any info is appreciated,
Thanks,
Mike Bankes

57 coupes have a longer frame at the rear, about 5" more. 58 cars have a different rear suspension, the frame is not the same at the rear.

You need to stay with a 57 chassis. You could easily cut and shut the rear "extension" of a coupe chassis though. I think it is about 4 or 5 inches.

I'm confused. The short deck sedans weren't made in 1957. The 62 sedan ,did have a shorter deck than the 60s sedan,if that is what you refer to. Look in the 1957 shop manual section 3,it  lists all the frame dimensions. From the chart it isn't clear where the 5 inches can be cut out of a coupe frame. Warren

Warren: at the section "I". Serie 62 sedans are shorter than coupes...

You have to go with the same frame.  The '57 series 62 sedans were considered "Short Deck" compared with the 60 Special.  Wheelbase on the 62 series was the same, coupe or sedan, but the rear overhang is different--longer on the coupe.  The 60 Special was unto itself with the 133" WB and long trunk.

The center sections were altered for wheelbase differences.
