I have the horn from a 1931 370a apart and i want to test it. Can i use a 12v battery or do i need to use a 6 volt battery?

Anyone know how this thing works or what it should sound like?

Thanks,
Jamie

12 volts will work but the tone won't be accurate. The real trick is to get the 2 horns "tuned" to sound good together.
Mine sound fair, bur I plan to get my brother-in-law, a musician, to tune them for me some day.

Or if you have a smart phone you can download an app like gStrings.  It allows you to tune musical instruments.  It even tells me what note I am humming.

Glen,
thanks for the great idea. Now I need to know what notes for each horn are my target notes.
I think, I still need to consult a musician for that.
