The owner of a local Test Only Smog Shop acquired a very presentable 92 Allante. It is the standard red and biscuit, no hardtop. It is currently running, licensed and smogged. The asking price is $1,500 and would probably go for $1,300 if I dropped it on the table. $1,300 is painful but not impossible but my compliment of non rolling stock; 3 Jags, 2 Packards. 1ea Cadillac, Mercedes, Nisson, Ford Ranger, Ford ½ ton, Chevy 1ton and perennial company van make parking such sweet sorrow. The price seems very low for its condition if it runs as well as it looks. I was never a fan of the 4100 engine but I understand the 4.5 cleared most of the earlier problems. Are there any known problems that I should be aware of if I talk myself into this? As I am addicted to convertibles, I probably will.

Known Probs:  Brake system.  Check the master cylinder unit.  It should have a rebuilt sticker on it.  Fuel Injectors.  Ethanol laced fuel known to destroy factory fuel injectors over time.  Codes.  Need to understand computer codes and pull all codes from the DIC (Driver Info Console).

Actually, they are great cars.  Allante fans have their favorites and mine just happens to be the '92 model year.
