I am reinstalling instrument cluster and a little confused. Anyone know if the ammeter has 2 wires on each terminal? When I removed it I marked wires as best as I could but room is so limited that much was done by feel. The two extra wires I have were 10 gage with open terminals and I think the might have come off while I was removing the two two closed terminals

On an original loom the wires are joined together so there is just one terminal where it meets the Ammeter. Someone could have added the others when parts of the original wiring failed. I don't have a 1940 circuit but the 1939 diagram shows the starter solenoid and the horn relay connected to one side and three wires to other side connecting the ignition switch, the light switch and the battery terminal of the regulator.
If its not a new numbered loom its imperative to keep proper check on what wire gos where.

Mine only has one heavy wire per terminal.
However looking a the service manual wiring diagram I could see where the amp meter could be used as a junction.
There is a poor instrument cluster diagram in the service manual showing only two wires.
I have included a photo of what's in my car.
