I know there has been a lot of discussion about what transmission oil to use, on the forum. Quite frankly the more I read, the more confused I get. I need to know on my 1941 Cadillac what oil I should be using. A lot of the discussion does not say what type of transmission they have, mine is a hydra-matic and I am worried what everyone is suggesting may be for a manual transmission. My book says SAE-90 gear lubricant or SAE-90 EP gear lubricant. But yet once again the book I have does not say whether that is for a hydra-matic. Please help!

Gear lubricant is for the manual gearbox.

The current version of Dexron will be sufficient.
