Does anyone know the correct new height of the front coil springs on the 41 models? Thats without load, not in the car?    My 41 is rather low and I have two parts cars that I could rob or get mine re-set if i knew the proper dimensions.

I do not have the answer, but a possible suggestion would be to contact Eaton Detroit Spring.  I bought my replacement springs from them and feel certain they have the data, if they will share it.  If you hit a dead end, I can measure the uncompressed height of the springs I removed - please let me know if needed.  The front ride height was fairly correct on the car before, but the rear was low, so I decided to change all 4 corners.

Thanks Paul, I'll give them a shot but doubt this will be information they want to part with. The height of your springs will be very useful. How did you determine the ride height?

Steve I have used http://www.coilsprings.com/ in the past.  I have also noticed that when I used someone else for springs they come packaged exactly the same way as this place packs them.  Which tells me most probably just drop ship from Coil Springs Specialties anyway.  They were dead on in their recommendations for what I was looking for and very professional.

Thanks Todd and if I was in your country I would have them in a heartbeat. sadly the shipping would be crippling.

I will assume you have the 1941 shop manual.Look at page 14, On the top is a list of spring rates. Next to them is a diagram of the aframe and spring. There is an arrow with 4 1/2 to 5 1/4 inches marked by it that would be the height and way to measure it. Warren

Thanks for that Warren. That detail was locked away on a different page number in my manual, page 222 in fact, none the less the information in that drawing looks a little ambiguous. Bottom line looks to be on the lower bumper saddle while the top line is in thin air somewhere on the top frame. I have no such marking anywhere around that area.  Perhaps there was a line there when the cars were new?

Just heard back from Eaton Springs who tell me their springs are 15 1/4" so it looks like I have the answer. Thanks.
