Has anyone shipped a bare car body across the country?  I found a great body for my 53 at what I believe to be a very reasonable price.  The big question is how would one get it from Arizona to Maine (or somewhere along the East Coast that I could pick it up at).

Is there a frame under it? If not someone will need to construct a wooden structure similar to a frame with provisions for a fork lift to pick it up. It will not be an easy or cheap move.  Possibly an independent such as uship.com would have an idea? I paid $2000 to ship a non operating 1942 Cadillac  67 series from Pennsylvania to Seattle with a regular car transport company.  Good luck.

Dan,
Hi. I've shipped full frames, but the usual criteria is that it needs to be "rolling" as stated above. I would ask around first or try to get someone retired or "independent" who was going out that way with something and possibly coming back empty. Most guys like to pick up a few extra bucks towards their fuel expenses and don't mind doing it rather reasonably. Timing is everything….You'd be surprised. Can't hurt by putting the word out there. Good Luck!

If you had the time, it would be a good road-trip, with a trailer.   I would do it myself if I was over there.

Dan, try USHIP.COM    They are a shipping aggregator site where YOU put in exactly what you are shipping, the condition it is in, what it will take to load and unload, and your locations and timeframe.  You will then get contacted with many quotes.  Insured, etc.   Works really well for things like this.  Good Luck.

I have used Uship several times.

The best way to utilize the service is if you are contacted by he actual trucker and not a broker.

I have had good luck with using their service but it's like ebay. THe site facilitates the connection between parties but they have no control over the actual level
Of service you get other than some reviews and feedback you can read.

It's kind of like Uber for shipping.
