on my 74 deville rear axle on the driver side along the top is some type of stem or grease connection.. I dont  know what it is .. anyone have any idea?

thanks bob....i noticed it is somewhat greasy... is that normal for it to be like that

It shouldn't be leaking grease. You might want to clean it off with some solvent, make sure its not plugged & check it occasionally.

thanks bob... would that be differential oil comming out? what is there is black and thick and dirty like bearing grease like but really dirty
