It was hard to tell the original color of the linkage when removed as it has surface rust (from my '66 DeVille). Looked at a few of my 65-66 cars, 3 different cars below,  and here is what I think:

A, bare metal, maybe Caddy engine blue
B, Caddy engine blue
C, Black???
D, ?
E, ?

Can anyone confirm these colors?  All parts sandblasted and figured I check before painting :)  might as well match them.

Thanks, Chuck

I would go for black. Cadillac blue just seems a bit too much. I believe that only the engine (without any attachments like steering pump, water pump and generator) was painted blue. The rest was just black, except for the power brake booster. I am not sure which one, but I believe the Bendix type was zinc plated while the other type was just  black.
