Engine numbers on 346 Cadillac engine

Today I was able to contact the man who restored my 1940 LaSalle 16 years ago. He told me that he replaced the original engine with a 1940 346 cu. in. Cadillac engine. That is fine with me. I just want a car that runs well.  Best I can tell the engine numbers are *8325447*  another number placed lower is 3E5492

Does that sound correct for a 40 Cadillac engine? I guess it really doesn't matter concerning future parts replacement as I understand that this engine continued in production thru 1948?

Robert, It looks like your replacement engine #*8325447*  translates to a 1940 Cadillac 62 series engine.     Harry
