Formerly owned by club member R. Messina sold at auction in Arizona on Friday for $66,000.00.    Tom CLC 6866

That has to be record money for a '66 Brougham. But then, that car was beyond the ordinary.

That is strong money for a 1966 Eldorado, the most valuable model today for 1966.

I do believe it was a Fleetwood, not an Eldorado.  Ralph may have had a '66 Eldorado but the car I am familiar with was his '66 Fleetwood --- as new.

I think what he meant was the high dollar water mark for the sale of a 1966 Cadillac was always associated with the Eldorado.   And technically, the Eldorado Is a Fleetwood.  Just say'in.

Yes, was saying that the most expensive 1966 Cadillacs are convertibles, the DeVille and Eldorado.  To see a closed 1966 production Cadillac sell for 66k is past normal convertible money.

$66K would even be considered tall money for a 1966 Eldorado.

In any case, I think it'll be a very long time before another '66 Brougham eclipses that figure.

Here's a link to the car on RM's website. (Incidentally, I assume $66K reflects the purchase total of $60K + 10% buyer's fee).

Billed an an "exquisite restoration" to "better than new standards". In this case, I think that is an accurate description.

Hey everyone,

Knowing Ralph and having seen the car multiple times in person, the pictures on tv or in the auction catalog don't even come close to its magnificence!! The car is STUNNING to behold in person!!  In my opinion, worth every penny at that price if not more!!

Thanks

Nice to see a black car without a red leather interior get some well deserved respect.  My favorite combination and that interior is total class.
