I replaced the original non-halogen rectangular sealed beams in my 78 Olds with halogen direct replacements in 1980, with noticeable lighting improvement, and never had any issues with wiring overheating or tripping the thermal overload breaker in the headlight switch.
Just bought four halogen six volt #H6006 sealed beams for my 49 and 51 Cadillacs, and installed them in the 49 two days ago. They are rated 50/40 watts, but no driving experience pending better weather.

One of the biggest needs to upgrade the headlights in our cars is the eze-eye tinting.

I notice it when actually looking out the side window, with it down, and noticing the brighter illumination than when looking through the windscreen.
