I came across this interesting information in a set of SERVICEMAN bulletins I recently purchased and I thought it might be helpful as it gives some detailed explanation of how the spare tire and separate jack components are to be properly stowed in the trunk.  The first attachment details the installation on 1965-1966 models. The second attachment discusses how to correct a noise condition cause by a loosely stowed jack in 1967-1968 convertibles.  In both cases the instructions include pictures showing how all the separate components are to be positioned.
