1973 Cadillac coupe alternator

I can reinstall the alternator do I tighten the bottom bolt first or Put the belt on first and tighten the top bolt first. Sorry need help. I tried the bottom one first and kinda bent that bracket a little

You should be able to get all 3 bolts in the alternator but not tighten any of them.  Then you put the belt on and pivot the whole alternator to tension the belt.   While holding the tension tighten the top bolt then the rear the the bottom.   

If something is bending I wonder if maybe the spacer is missing from the long lower bolt?   The bolt hole only goes through the front part of the alternator so the spacer is needed to take up the gap between the front and where it threads into the engine block.
