Trying to fit fresh tires to a museum car, the present tires are over 40 years old!  Standard tires are 7.00-17" but Firestone branded tires have a cross-sectional measurement of 8.25".  Does anyone know the cross-sectional dimension for the Lester 7.00-17"?  Anybody run into this problem of trying to fit tires within the confines of the steel-wrapped fender mounted tire covers?  Thanks for any assistance.  Steve

Tires made in the 30's were a LOT skinnier than what they produce today. Just another of the 1000's of reproduction items that are made WRONG!! I went thru this years ago. Buy 4  7:00 X 17 for the road wheels & 2 6:50 17 for the side  mounts.
