Hello. Does anyone know of a source to purchase speedometer parts? I'm looking for a rebuild kit (not sure it exists) but more specifically a spring ( the only spring) in the speedo. It broke and I want to repair myself. Thank you!

From what I have found, the best way to get a replacement is to rob another speedo, especially one that has broken, so that you aren't destroying a good one.

This is what one from a 1960 Caddy looks like.

My problem was that the disc had become loose on the shaft.

I have a feeling that a number of GM vehicles from the same period would be the same part, as all they would do when changing models it to retain the guts, but change the face and housing.

Notice that the outer holes are different, but this could just be balancing holes when manufactured.

Here is a picture of the one in my 1972 Speedo which looks very similar.

The mounting might be different, but the spring could be exactly the same.

There are a lot of parts that get used over a vast range.   Reminds me of the Speedo Drive for GM, which was the same length  from 1937 to 1968 at least.   Slight differences in outer covering, from spring to nylon, but they all fit.   Probably the same for all the GM range for those years as well.
