So its not looking like 75 was the year that had the different venting.    Did all that era have the bump up for the sending unit?   I suppose that maybe was part of the venting?  They were trying to add some space that would be difficult to get full of fuel?

TJ, I ordered a Gas tank for a 75 Deville that got delayed in shipping and it is supposed to be here Thursday.  Unfortunately I am having neck and lower back problems and will have to hire to get it switched out.  If I/we are lucky and the guy who did this before me memory is correct the license plate gas door almost closed all the way, I could live with that... we will see.

The neck difference is significant ...I would cut out a section of deville tank and clamp a fuel hose splice to connect the two...  like had been done for decades prior. Or weld your Eldorado neck to the new tank.

V63, Yes it is a big difference, 6 inches.  Since it's above my pay grade I have been emailing local welding ships and will follow up.  My plan was to take them both tanks and have them splice the new tank filler, I never thought about using the Eldorado neck.  Thanks for the idea.

Cutting it and using a coupling should be fine and not too hard to source the parts if you can't get someone to weld it.   It was pretty common in the pre plastic tank days to just have a nipple on the tank then the filler was a separate pipe likely more custom for the year make and model with a coupling hose.    I know the square body trucks did that so truck places like LMC truck may be a source for those couplings.
