Hi,

As above - for 1955 Cadillac. Good used condition is fine if spring tensioner is working.

See photo for clarification.

Thank you.

I believe I have 2 spare sets of 54 transmissions. Can someone check if the part numbers are the same for 54 and 55?

Hi Phil. The 1957 Cadillac MPL under Section 38.5550 titled; "Transmission Assembly, Windshield Wiper", lists the following Left Hand parts: 1954 Trico #88141-4 with cables, (Cadillac part #462 8794), and 1955 #Trico #88141-5J with cables, (Cadillac part #466 5776). So different part numbers for both Trico and Cadillac for both these years. No indication of what the differences might be.  :-[   Clay/Lexi

Thanks Clay, it could be a minor difference we would have to compare them.

As I had to go to my shop this morning, I took the 1954 wiper transmissions and the LH NOS one home for comparison purposes.
The cables don't have the same length because I suppose that for 1956 (55 too?) the pulley at he motor is larger. I got 515 and 575 mm total 1090 mm for the 1954 transmission and 532 and 595 for a total of 1127 mm for the 56. Total transmission length measured like on the picture: 166 mm for 1954; 1956: 174 mm. The difference is at the top, which means that the 1956 wiper transmission is emerging at an higher "altitude" than the 1954 one.
The brass or copper water tube has a different shape for 1956.

Nice investigative work Roger. As I recall the MPL also listed the 1956 wiper transmission as having a different part number, so your comparison shows why. Clay/Lexi
