In the shop manual 1932 there is a reference to a small piece of packing placed near the top of the valves in the cyl. heads.  It appears to go on top the springs near the cap and collars (keepers).
Can anyone tell me what the material is and is it essential to use it?
Thank you,
Mike

THe valve packing acts like modern day valve seals. If you dont install it my guess is you will suck oil into the conbustion cambers.  Warren
