anyone ever completely rewire a 71-76?

Just curious...Painless makes a GM pickup (required for the extra length wires!!) kit that supposedly connects to the stock column switches and includes enough wiring to go all the way out to each bulb, etc. While certainly not correct, it sure would make my old Caddy much more enjoyable to drive. Anyone ever done anything like this?
