I recently took out the gas tank from my 39 Lasalle and there are different lines that I am not sure where they go. Same with the carberater. Anyone have any information that can help?
There's only one line into the gas tank, a few more into the carb. One from fuel pump to the rear port. One from float chamber down the back of engine for overflow. One from the choke stove to choke and one from Distributor to carb base. They can't be interchanged because of pipe length and size. Be a bit more specific and I'm sure we can help. Pictures will help.
Any chance someone has a diagram?
Hello Joe, The fuel line connects to the tank at the bottom front left corner with a threaded connection. There is also a vent hose coming out the top left side of the tank. It is connected with a hose clamp. The other end of the hose goes to the top of the gas filler tube on the rear fender. There is one wire going to the fuel level sending unit on top of the tank. That's it.
Do you have the tubes for the carburetor and they are mixed up? Or are they missing? Maybe someone with a '39 Lasalle can post some pictures. I have a '40 and not all the tubes are in the same place.
My original post should have said lines from fuel pump and carburetor.
You have the fuel supply line from the tank going into the pump. This is usually the top fitting, nearest the fender. It has an arrow pointing in. The other fitting from the top goes's to the carb.
Bottom fittings are the one nearest the fender connects to the manifold, the other connects to you wiper motor.
Thanks Steve that is just what I needed!!!
