My 39 LaSalle has always had gas tank issues. This has been a cost effective solution if you can live with a non stock tank.
1953 1954 Chevrolet Gas Tank 53-CGX Tanks Inc . I purchased mine from Summit. $210.00 with free shipping. Tank is 1/2 inch thicker but shorter and narrower 18 gallon.
Had to cut a 2"x13" inch filler connector but factory filler neck worked great.
Straps are provided with tank. Factory fuel sender and filler neck is in the proper location.
If your fuel line is running down the left frame rail you will need to extend to the right.
The fuel connection requires an adapter.
Hope this helps.

Nice job, I was considering using the same tank.
I was fortunate to find an original in good shape but always wondered what the 53 Chevy tank would look like and if it was going to be easy to install.

Thanks for the photos
