Distributor Grease/Lubrication for the flathead 1937-1948 Engines

Folks,

Was wondering what type of grease I should put in the "grease cup" on the side of a '40 LaSalle distributor.

Found the answer in the shop manual but was surprised by the answer. See Below:

This is for the grease cup that lubricates the distributor driveshaft bearing.

" Every 1,000 miles Water Pump Grease (G-13) should be applied."

Hi. Don't purchase a whole can just for your distributor. If you want, I can send you a little bit. All you need to do is pack the cup. I live about 20 minutes from the Lubriplate Plant.

Thanks but since I rebuild the water pumps also I have a good supply.
