Hey out there.......
Anybody have a photo (or two) of the factory front license plate mount for a '55 Coupe De Ville? I need to restore mine and don't have any references to go by. I would appreciate any detailed photos of the bracket and license plate frame, etc. See  first attached photo, if you zoom in on the license bracket, that's what I am trying to restore. As you can see, not much left! BTW, photo taken 6 years ago when "Marilyn" was pulled out of the "barn". She's almost done now and need the front bracket, see other photos.
Thanks

I can't guarantee this is correct, however I have no reason to think it isnt.
Looks like I need to clean under there.

Hi Jeff:
THANK YOU so much for taking these photos, I very much appreciate it. Exactly what I was looking for!
The piece that has the sharp bend that hooks into the tab at the top of the black backing plate is missing on my bracket and I have never seen one.
I'm pretty sure I can fab one, but if you or anyone else out there in Caddy Land has that piece, I'm interested in hearing about it!

Yes, that plate holder was correct.  They were gold and used just two years,
1954-55.  I'm not sure if they are aluminum anodized (most likely) or
another metal and gold plated.  I haven't seen one for years.

I was looking for a excellent NOS one for my car but gave up, the one I've
seen are pretty beat up and tarnished.

Hi Mike:
You are correct about the frame itself. It is gold anodized aluminum. See photos of my original frame from my '55. I am working a a wooden "buck" so I can make a new pair, as original.
The whole bracket assembly to hold the license plate is a rather complex assembly of parts, over-engineered to say the least. The aluminum frame is also hinged to the backing plate with little pins to hold it in place.
Hopefully I can recreate the whole front assembly and make it look original.

I have seen some "Powder Coatings" done in professional shops that came out quite well. One near me has huge number of powders and can almost duplicate any finish from dull to full gloss.

I had  an extra set of Robe Rope handles and center support coated to match my upholstery and they were very nice but I ended up using the chrome plated ones.

A friend had a steering wheel built up with powder coating and it loks great also.

Kits are available but limited especially in regards to choices of colors and gloss,
