Your dog is missing....

Cape Cod Fleetwood

You're out of your mind, you LOVE that dog. That dog is your best friend and he's been gone for weeks.
Its cold, you're worried sick, you go out relentlessly looking for him, you staple up posters all over town.

Then one day someone sees your poster, your phone number, the reward money offered, and they call you,
THEY FOUND YOUR DOG!

You meet, the dog is crazy to get into your arms again, you're so happy, so grateful, you pay the money
and you're just so darn grateful! Home you both go!

Then you find out the one who returned your dog STOLE it from your yard. You don't care, you have your dog
back.

THIS IS WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE, NOW.

Hey, I'm sorry to be the ex-military bee-yotch here but - enough with the rose throwing, kiss blowing and knee
bending for the forum to be complete again. IT NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE. Stefan's the
webmaster here, its his JOB to make sure THAT doesn't happen. And when it was first noticed that the forum
was gelded, the initial response was "oh well!". Are you kidding me? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I don't care how long
it took him, I don't care how much work it was or how many had to be involved - ITS HIS JOB. ITS HIS JOB to fix
what he broke. If I made a mistake in the military my JOB was to fix it, now. And no Officer ever said "Good
job Kraynick!" They gave me a hairy eye ball and a "DON'T let it happen again Kraynick". If a mistake was made
in the construction business my job was to FIX IT. And no client ever said "Thank you for fixing your mistake!"
while blowing kisses.

Hey, maybe its "me", I was raised differently and I've lived differently. I've always been held 100% accountable for
decisions I've made, right or wrong. "wrong" always had negative consequences so 'wrong' was to be avoided at all costs.
Lavishly lauding someone for fixing their mistake, after hearing "oh well!" when we thought the priceless photos were gone
forever, is simply batty. He didn't get Pepsi when you wanted Coke, the entire library, the history, the VALUE of the forum/CLC
membership was in peril. Jeez!

YES I'm thrilled/grateful the forum was put back apparently in good shape.
YES I'm hard to live with, but you can't believe the quality of my inner circle friends.

And Stefan, when something like this happens again, and it will, keep your mouth shut. Don't make any posts
to the forum, just deal with the Board and quietly fix the problem. That's what turned this into a dumpster
fire. The enlisted don't need to know when the Officers are having a problem. Ever.

And here's a picture of my Cadillac so Bruce doesn't lose his mind...

"Convenient" or otherwise, that Forum posts after a certain date are MIA. But wasn't there an early post by Stefan that noted, without specifics, that the decsion to edit the Forum stemmed from a "Board Meeting"? While that content doesn't appear to be available now, but if memory serves, Stefan was just the foot soldier so to speak. So if I rememembered that correctly, (that is a big if), while Stefan might at first be the logical "lightning rod" so to speak, it would appear that others may culpable. To the best of my knowledge none of us have seen what his "marching orders" were. Depending on what he was instructed to do, he may be considered a victim as well-as he was tasked to fix someone else's poor judgement call. Not making excuses for anyone, just unable to make a final call on all of this based on available information. Probably the blame can be "spread around" to include others. That said, If not anything else, this was a valuable lesson to NOT trust the digital world as in a heart beat all can be lost with the stroke of a key. Having back up is critical. Clay/Lexi

Thanks Tim, I appreciate that. The car is in the shop all winter, they're correcting that paint job. Its pretty and
its correct, but the other shop made mistakes with it. It'll be perfect soon.

Oh please, Clay you want us to believe Stefan went to the Board and said "I can migrate this but we'll lose all of the old photos" and the Board said "that's fine". Are you serious? There are some very bright 'Cadillac' people on the Board/Chain Of Command who understand completely those photos are PRICELESS in history and value to the future.
He's not a foot soldier, he's in charge of the web page. And he's a CLC member, if marching orders were issued to geld the photos, which they couldn't have been logically, it was up to him to say 'no'. Yes you can say 'no' in instances where you can prove beyond a doubt your reason why. Obviously back up existed somewhere, thank God. Let's just hope safeguards have been put in place to prevent this from happening again.

The board never approved elimination of material one way or another. Only that a new host server was be found in order to meet space requirements of the CLC Discussion Forum. Otherwise I appreciate Lexi's restraint in rushing to judgment without knowing all the facts. Thankfully the original files were backed up by the previous server and a better solution was found enabling content to be preserved in its entirety. That said, I see nothing productive to be gained by belaboring the matter any further.

Laurie, I get it someone screwed up and it should not have happened.

The tell tale sign it should not have happened was that we got all the posts before 1/18/24 back. So better planning would have been to back up the old site completely and then shut it down. Then migrate the backup to the new server.

Then get it up and running as it is now is. But somehow we lost about 2 weeks. With that said sh*t happens.

So while I agree no one deserves credit for screwing up then fixing it by doing their job, it happened and all someone can do is apologize and move on with life. What irks me today when someone messes up, many today seem to blame something else and never take the blame.

So it is what it is. Just admit a mistake or poor planning happened and take the blame. Everyone makes mistakes, it okay as long as they do not keep making them. Obviously in the military mistakes can kill people, in that case you might only get one crack at getting it right.

Dear all,

This topic has been locked and will most likely be removed, as it is bordering, or should I say, teetering, on the edge of breaking one of the Forum Rules.

There was no need for the smart remark directed at myself regarding the need to post a Cadillac picture.

Granted, mistakes were made, and I must stand up for humanity, as without mistakes, there would be no need for overpaid Lawyers, and even the overstaffed, longsuffering Military who always seem to get a mention.
