Title: where is my vin number
Post by: Kevin Edmonds on December 07, 2005, 01:53:02 PM
I recently found a 1964 Cadillac Deville Convertable in my deceased fathers storage unit.  There are no papers on it and I cant find the vin where it should be inside the door.  How do I get this baby a title. Any help you can give me would be greatly appriciated.

Thank you in advance,

There should be a white plastic tag screwed on the drivers door jamb that has the VIN # stamped onto the bottom. If it is missing...then you will have to refer to the frame stamping.

The following link should take you to the 1963-64 Cadillac Community website section showing the VIN locations.

http://groups.msn.com/196364CadillacCommunity/differentbodystylesbyvin.msnw

If not, go to to

and follow the link to the help and photo section.

Title requirements vary from state to state.  Youll probably want to check with your states Department of Motor Vehicles to see what it requires.

Good Luck

Hi Kevin, if this is a black plate car, & you want to keep those plates, you better find an old registration. Otherwise the DMV will not let you keep them. If you have more questions, please email me directly & Ill try & help. Bob
