My buddy found a motor/tranny set, front wheel drive V-8. He asked me to help id it, and I said that the CLC bunch could likely solve it. The block casting number is 1495200. Would someone who knows, be kind enough to assist? Thank you!!

I thought my memory was going but found it on the next page...

All that number tells you for sure is that its a 70-76 block that left the factory with a 4.300 inch bore.
Depending on the crank and pistons installed weather its a 500 or 472.  A 472 has a 4.060 stroke.  500 has 4.304 stroke.
What makes it FWD is the oil pan/pick up tube, dipstick location, and RH exhaust manifold.
Most likely is a 500 since eldos only came with 500's 70-76 but swap those parts around and a 472 would look and fit the same.
Figuring the year can be harder but the style of pistons, lack of egr, head casting #s can narrow it down.  I guess there was also a vin number but I have never seen one that was readable.

More tidbits, if this motor did not come with a 425(fwd transmission) bolted to it it could have been out of some sort of swap.  The 472/500/425 were and are popular motors to put into hodrods and pickups.  9 times out of 10 the FWD eldo pan is needed because it is the most like a chevy.  Most guys would have gone out and bought a RWD car which would have had a 472 unless it was a 75 or 6 to get the transmission and found out later that they needed the eldo pan.    Measure the bore is the easiest way to tell on a assembled motor.
