Hi,
Could someone tell what the right front spring shim for 59 with factory A/C looks like?  How thick is it? According to the shop manual the part # is 1457838.  A picture would be a great help.  The reason for my question is the car sits slightly low on the right front.  My wifes Grandfather had a accident back in 67 and the right front fender was replaced.  I dont know if the suspension was affected or not.  My thoughts are that the shim is missing, the spring was replaced with a non-A/C spring or a week spring.

Thanks for the help.

BOB,It has been years since I put spring shims on my car. The best that I can remember is, The shims were about 1/4 thick and the same dia. as the springs. Seems like I purchased them from J C Whitney (CHECK THEIR CATILOG, THEY HAVE A WEB-SITE) I had a Frame and Spring SHOP install the shims during an alignment job. (They had to remove the springs in order to install them). BTW, I had a pair made of Rubber,But, the ones I had installed were made of aluminum. They almost make a complete circle.
HTHGood Luck,JIM

Yes, I have one I took out of a 1960 parts car with A/C.
Shim #1457838 is round: 1/8" thick with a 4" ID & 5 3/8" OD.
It's made of steel.  Anything made of rubber is a coil spring cushion.
Anything made of aluminum is aftermarket.
This shim was used from 1950 - 1961 with some exceptions for Series 75 & Commercial Chassis.
