Heater hose routing for 41 series 62

I am trying to find the correct hookup locations for the heater hoses to an under dash defroster heater to the engine. Where does the shut off valve go also? I think my heater is hooked up wrong since both hoses are going to the water pump, one at the top and one at the bottom.

Here is a diagram for '42,'46, '47 which should be similar.  Another member gave it to me to get mine reconnected.
