Taking my engine in 2morow to be rebuilt. My friend suggested to me to put in a mild cam. Good advice or bad?

Jon,

Depends on what you are going to use your car for.

I put in a RV cam into one of my cars, and it was a stump-puller down in the low rev range, and was still good to 4,000 RPM.  Plus, was good for fuel economy as well.

Not much good putting in a performance cam without enhancing the intake and exhaust systems, and increasing the Compression.   But, these engines when stock have good compression, but too high for todays' fuel.

A mild cam can help in the fuel inadequacy area by actually lowering the dynamic compression a bit to let the motor survive on less than the 105 octane fuels that were around in 1960.
