As we all know when you see good bones in these old girls you want em.  About to pull the trigger on this because the price is right and she just needs tlc.  My question is this interior looks chevy like...is this a factory pattern?  Also shes non op at the moment.  Looks to be all there but how hard are the dual Rochester carbs to get up and running from 30 years of sitting?

56 Eldorado should have Carter 4 barrels. Minor thing, but if Rochesters, then it has been monkeyed with in the past.

Would love to see some photos. David is correct about the carburetors. Also, they are not the same as the single carbs that were installed on non Eldos that year. They have smaller bases. Hope you can post some images. Clay/Lexi

After further consideration I don't think I'm going to go with it.  The price is right and the condition is clean however I'm not too excited about the non-original interior pattern and parts which are unobtanium.

Still, it was great hearing about it. If you take the plunge on another let us know. Clay/Lexi

Tim,

My Dad Had a 56 Eldo pink - yes pink - with a white top, silver turbine wheels.
I loved that car with its bumpy rubber chrome framed floors.

The dual quads made that car a beast.
I can recall racing some Highway Patrol friend of his, where they patrolled along the 605 Freeway to catch speeders in their souped-up "interceptor" as it was called, modified high speed pursuit car.
The pink beast walked away from them on the open highway.

Another story - my uncle had the same car - but conservative white and black top, I think - was driving to Vegas across the dessert at night, and a car kept blinking its light way back.
My aunt said he should slow down because maybe they needed help.
So he did and as they caught up they flipped on their red rights.
Busted, and the cop told him if he had not slowed down they would not have ever caught him.
Good news - big laughs all around and let him go - with a drive slower.

Anyway, good memories for me about 56 Eldos.

Have fun,
Steve B.
