I searched this on the forum and found little.  Most discussions were around head bolt sealant, which seems like Permatex Form-A-Gasket #2 was the most popular choice.  Seems to me like that should work or the Aviation Form-A-Gasket #3 for the manifold studs.  Considering these studs are close to some exhaust ports I was a little concerned about the operating temperature but they do end up in the water jacket at the base. Both products are rated to 400 deg F which seems high enough for that area - just looking for any experience. Thanks.

About ten years ago I used Permatex #2 on the manifold studs of my 1940 LaSalle, still no leaks to my knowledge. It has been with another local friend for the past three years, no complaints from him.

I used nothing but Anti-Seize. Why would you need any sealant on these studs?

Like the head bolts, they terminate into the pressurized water jacket.

Always have used Permatex #2 on these on the ones that go into the water jacket.  From memory not sure if the all go into the water jacket or not.
