Hi,

I have a 59 sedan, and am wondering if adding cruise control is worth it. The cruise control on my 65 convertible hasnt worked right since I got the car 10 years ago, there is always something wrong. When you engage the thing, it works for about 30 seconds, and then starts oscillating. The speedometer starts bouncing from 20 to 100 mph (Im doing 60), and the car keeps trying to step on the gas and lettig go. Rebuilt transmission, new cables, redone electrics, its just got a will of its own.

So, for the 59, are there retrofit sets out there, what would they be worth, and are they pretty reliable or is it more of what I already have? Does anyone have one, advice?

Thanks,

RK

If it isnt too important that the car be 100percent original, the aftermarket cruise controls work very well, they are electronic, not vacuum. J. C. Whitney, of course. They are pretty easy to remove if you sell the car, and several look very original. My Toyota van has an old Audivox unit.

I have had my 59 for about ten years.  The cruise control on this car has always worked well.  This post will probably jinx that however.
