Anyone know why a standard CDV would be built at Fleetwood?
I thought only Fleetwood 60s, 75s and Eldos were built there...

1960 Eldorado Seville, Copper, "IKE"
1961 CDV, gold, "Goldfinger"
1964 Eldorado, Turquoise, "Billy the Squid"
1963 De Ville Station Wagon Vista roof, silver blue, "Race Bannon"
1963 Fleetwood 60S, turquoise, "The Miami Special"
1959 Sedan Deville flat top, tan, "Jupiter-2"

All of the bodies were built and painted at Fleetwood, then trucked to Clark Street for final assembly.

I thought it was Fisher that made the bodies, and Fleetwood was the upholstery supplier in most cases.

Fisher Euclid (outside of Cleveland) made the Eldorado bodies for a few years in the late 1960s and maybe even 1970.  Fleetwood made complete and painted bodies without the hood and fenders and these were trucked on a flatbed truck & trailer to Clark Street for final assembly.  I actually saw bodies transported a couple of times.  Too bad I didn't have my camera with me then!

This system apparently worked for many years when Cadillac was a low volume manufacturer.  It proved inefficient in the long run and is why the Hamtramck Assembly Plant has everything under one roof.
