I would keep a spare fuel pump and extra fluids in the trunk for just in case moments.

For years I kept getting fuel pump failures on my 64, until I realized that the 429 engine block in my 64 is actually from a 67, but with installed 64 heads, oil filter housing and other parts. So in a sense I was using the incorrect fuel pump, hence all the failures.

But still, I always had a new spare pump in the trunk of my car which has saved me many times from having to call a tow. I could literally change out the pump in a half hour or so with some basic tools that I also have in the trunk in case of an emergency. Maybe a small 2 gallon gas can already filled with gas in the trunk if your gas gauge doesn't work anymore or is very inaccurate leading to you running out of gas.

Food for thought.

I think 67 was when the feds mandated it along with a few other things like collapsing steering columns and maybe the locking steering wheel.  Most of the lesser brands and models seemed to hold out with the singles till they were forced to change to the dual.

With daily drivers in the rust belt no way I would want a single.  With classics we tend to loose track of how old they are so things like hoses can fail due to old age so again I would not want to actually drive a single.  Ya know how it goes, I just replaced all the hoses when I got the car, what was it 10, 20, 30, years ago?  Those tires are like new, I just got them ummm uhhh 10 years ago?

He didn't say what sort of 13 miles he will be driving.  I have been places where you could easily drive that far with no brakes at all as well as places where you need 4 wheel discs and to be strapped into your racing harness.

Stop and go local traffic at 45 mph.  Tbh shes happier at highway speeds.  Ive noticed a sputter at times so perhaps its time for a new fuel pump.  Easy fix.  Heres a shot of her being driven by friends to the show today.  Brit mentioned how smooth and enjoyable the drive was despite her never driving a classic or this car before.
