Title: 1960 DeVille convertible heater box and windshield wiper where to restore
Post by: Kolossus on March 23, 2019, 08:16:49 PM
Hello everyone. I'm new here and I was hoping someone might be able to help me out with some information.
I wanted to know if there is somewhere where I can send my windshield wiper motor and heater box with A/C to get restored and how much does something like this cost?
Thanks in advance.

I honestly don't know if there is anything mechanically wrong with it. I do know that the car was sitting for years and cosmetically it looks weathered.
The car was given back to me with everything stripped off of the firewall. So now i'm left with trying to figure out how everything is put back together.
And since everything is already off i want to make sure everything is working before putting it back on the firewall.

Kolossus,
First off - it is customary to show your name and it would also be helpful to know where you/car are for proximity to helping hands close to you - if needed.
Oh and are you a member of the CLC - good thing.

The A/C Heater box has doors inside with felt perimeters that operate on manual cables as well as vacuum actuators, both single and double with steel wires protruding, controlling the volume and flow between hot, cold and vent air.
The controls in the passenger compartment play a big roll in the operation of each function, including their cable attachments, electrical and vacuum switches.

A thorough cleaning of all surfaces in and out.
Inspect all vacuum lines from their source to their destination.
Inspect all electrical wiring and connection, both in the controls and the engine compartment.
Confirm that all cables and wires from the actuator are not broken.

Finally, get a Master Parts Book and review the comments and diagrams.
Specific help is generally a post away.

Have fun,
Steve B.
