I would like to know what kind of transmission fluid to use in the Standard Transmission of this 1938 LaSalle Coup series 50

I use 90 wt GL-4 gear lube in mine. It has brass bushings for the countershaft so you don't want to use a GL-5 gear lube as the EP additives tends to oxidize yellow metals. The GL-4 has some EP additives which makes it a bit easier on the synchronizers than GL-1 but you can also use GL-1 if you don't beat on your synchronizers by shifting hard/quickly.
