Title: 1969 BROUGHAM SPEEDO DRIVE LEAK
Post by: 1969cadillac on April 13, 2024, 08:10:36 AM
Hello ! A friend has a 1969 Brougham which has a leaking speedo drive on the T400 gearbox. I have had a few attempts at trying to fix it . Last time took the alloy casing out... new large O ring / new improved drive seal installed / dressed the speedo gear as it had a slight groove in it ....it is not leaking as bad..but still leaks. i will get a NEW gear next time ..but any ideas about how to get a PERFECT seal ? A new gear ought to solve the problem.  That plastic
that eventually wears and leaks, is one of the many
mfr features included to encourage you to buy another
car sooner.  Does not work on me, I buy bearings and
seal leaks.  Bruce Roe
