Title: Museum Project 1942 Cadillac Series 75
Post by: Barry M Wheeler #2189 on May 26, 2017, 11:26:04 AM
We have another "need" for the 1942 Cadillac that was donated to the CLCMRC museum in Hickory Corners, MI. Sometime in the past, probably when a previous owner wanted new whitewalls and found that 7:50 X 16" WW were no longer available (at that time), he went to a junkyard and got a set of 15" wheels.

So, now we need a set of 16" wheels that can be from: 1941-48 Series 67/75. Prefer within driving distance from Chicago, Indianapolis, or Detroit. '

As I mentioned in my other ad, donations are gratefully appreciated, or we do have a small budget for parts. We prefer to pick them up but we could possibly tag them and send by bus. Donations are tax deductible.

We also still need a RH NOS/reproduction 1941 tail lamp jewel. (We may be able to make a LH one work if that's all you have.) See note of clarification below. (They are both the same.) Thanks to Bob Hoffmann for catching my error about usage. I thought that this was going to be too easy...

Barry, there's no right or left tail light jewel in 41. They are both the same.

Barry,
I suggest you reread the MPL on the wheel interchange. Hint... the big series wheels are wider.

Steve, Since Glenn Brown donated a NOS complete LH tail fin assembly, I have been ragging the membership in asking for a "RH" jewel. (And trusting that they will know that there is no difference between the two.) Sorry if I confused you.

Yes, I saw the ad in the S/S and called right away.

In the 70's  3/4 ton  pick ups went to 16.5 inch wheels and tires and 16 inch tires were hard to find so many went to 15  inch wheels from the local junk yard.   My 1942   6719 had 15.s on it when I purchased it and I found correct wheels from several places one or two at a time.  I eventually had the 5   16's that I needed.

Hi Barry - (Don't know if you recall me by name, I was a moderator for awhile a few years ago). In any case,I have a set of 15" wheel covers if those are of interest.

Barry,
CLCMRC recently received donation of two of the 16 inch wheels with the six bolt pattern...Is that what you are looking for?

Tim, thanks for checking, but the six bolts are for 1938-40 Series 75/90 I believe. We did purchase the set of wheels in the S/S this month and Glenn Brown should be picking them up soon. We are checking as the restorer believes that he remembers that the build sheet specified black wall tires. Does anyone have a set of 7:50 x 16" blackwalls that they don't need?

Hello Barry, I have two. Will this car be driven or displayed? They are BF Goodrich Extra Miler. They are well over twenty years old.  Tom Boehm New Albany, IN
