General Discussion / Re: Wiring
Last post by TJ Hopland - Yesterday at 11:38:07 PM
The 368 isn't as well known as the 472/500/425 when it comes to swaps but I would expect the holes in the engine block to be the same so you should be able to swap the whole bracket off the 77 engine.

I'm not sure what wire you are talking about related to the air compressor, gonna need some more info on that one.  Is this a wire that car has but the new engine doesn't?  Or the other way around the new engine has something that there isn't a place to plug into your car?

From what I understand, previous Members retained their original Membership Number when they rejoined, but now that Cornerstone has taken over, maybe they were not made aware of this.

Would be nice to retain your old number.   I remember adding that number to your Profile.

General Discussion / Re: Vinyl Top

Not sure what to advise, but whatever you do, do not be tempted by Armorall as the product and vinyl do not go well together.

Great for selling a car, but not for keeping it as in a short time, cracks will appear.   Car yards love it, but they are not keeping the cars.

Using it will give you a "greasy" surface which will attract dust, plus every time you touch it, you will end up with sticky fingers.   Good for brightening up tyres, but tyres get replaced regularly.

General Discussion / Motor mounts
Last post by Clifton 77 - Yesterday at 09:16:47 PM
Good evening now that install my 368 in my 77 deville but the mounts are in the original spot but one side will bolt up and the other side are a little up and are on the rubber of the mount. I did the other side first and it's doing the same thing. I'm lost and need help figuring it out. Thanks.

Thanks,

It's nice to have another prewar Cadillac produced car, this time a made car that needs nothing but a little make work tinkering and detailing. In what seems like in a time long ago I restored two, a '41 coupe, '67 Deville convertible and the  major cosmetic resto of a '40 Sixty Special. I received a lot of help from club members while doing so.

My wife and I both drive low mileage Cadillacs form the early two thousands, a 2001 DeVille and a 2002 Eldo, both with coach tops.

Navigating the Byzantine world of the Clubs' security protocols is interesting. My credit union and credit card companies don't have as draconian security protocols as the CLCs.'

However I will be watching to see how seamless the transition to "members only contributions'' to the forums on the site will be.

I can wait for next months' issue to become available. It's not that big a deal in spite of the time I spent posting and answering posts.

regards,

tony

General Discussion / Re: Wanted: CLC Escalade Owner...

Quote from: Bryan J Moran on Yesterday at 06:12:58 PMDo we look for low mileage examples to preserve or restore like older Cadillacs?  Probably not.
I dote on my EXT's probably far more than I do the 64 Coupe de Ville trying to keep both in the best maintenance condition possible as parts dry up, and they age like any other vehicle.  I have put 165K miles on the 2002 EXT and again won 1st place primary in 2002 during its 1st year of eligibility, which I think speaks for itself.  Truth be told it was only about 1.5 points from a senior!  I plan to live and die with both my EXTs so yes I plan to keep preserving and keep restoring both.

More to the point of this post, it is actually easier for me to keep the 64 maintained than my newer EXT's.  For example, my Service Stability System warning light started coming on the 2013 EXT about 6 months ago. It is just a warning and not a Check Engine code so it passes inspection but have to turn it off each time I crank it. I also know the suspension lift works as I see it work when I attached the car hauler and stick a car up on it. But, having been down this road with a similar warning light with the 2002, I decided to just take it to Hendrick Cadillac in Cary, who I believe has a top notch service department.  I ended up needing a $788 electronic module (currently on order) and by the time I pay labor it will be about $1600, which is neither here nor there because unlike my '64, the Escalade EXT's are service vehicles, albeit luxury service vehicles, and relied on every day.

Two trains of thought here:
1st, I will spend and do what it takes to maintain and preserve my Escalade EXTs regardless ... probably more so than the 64 for several reasons some already stated.

2nd, wouldn't it be nice to have an Escalade Chapter to share similar experiences and knowledge, and troubleshoot issues like this collectively just like we do in the 63/64 Cadillac Chapter, or the local CLC Region?
I basically rely on YouTube videos and a few forums and parts replies (e.g. Amazon) but wow, talk about hit or miss or pure-misinformation out there!

Forming a new Escalade Chapter doesn't take anything away from our club ... it actually adds to it in many ways.

Probably going to have to reach out to Cornerstone Management (CLC Office Manager) for assistance.

Glad to have you back in the Club.  :)
