Can anyone tell me if the 39 Cadillac hood brace has any kind of bumper or rubber at the top center where it touches the bottom center of the hood. There is a thin metal plate with two holes overlapping the top of hood brace and I suspect maybe there was a rubber pad or anti-squeak there? Anyone know?

Go to Steele rubber and if it did they will have one
Steele doesn't make every piece of rubber for these cars so that is not the finally check. What model are we talking about here. At the back center of the hood there is a piece that is not made. Doesn't seem to be what you are talking about.
Thanks for replying. I have attached a photo of the hood brace with a thin rectangular plate with 4 holes in it. When the hood is down the cowl welt supports the hood sheet metal but when it is raised the hood sheet metal touches this metal plate with the 4 holes. It seems there should be something there as some cushion?

Brad, I am assuming you mean what appears to be a mounting pad on the rear center of the hood.
I have always wondered what goes there but have never found a photo that showed a bumper.
If you have a photo of what goes there I would like to see if I can make it.
Fred, Picture attached. They don't seem to be needed for function on the small series cars but very needed on 38 to 40 large series cars. If you get the hood adjusted right it hits the cowl without this rubber there. It fills the gap (almost) between the hood and the cowl so it keeps the hood from going back and hitting the cowl edge. I tried once to get it made without success and didn't even try Steele.
On the original question here I believe there is a strip of tar paper anti-rattle between the hinge frame and the hood sheet metal.
I appreciate the responses.. Considering the hood is down 99.9% of the time whatever I put here won't see much wear so I will look at glueing in some rubber sheet.

If you want to tackle the reproduction of this part I have an extra bare metal part so you can see the exact size. The pictured one is the best one I have ever seen that shows the bulk of the rubber that was molded to it. I think virtually every car of this vintage is missing this but don't know how many people would care if on or not.
