Drivers side chrome window follower 38 Cadillac Fleetwood 4 door Convertable

Hey everybody. I'm not sure what it's called exactly. But the piece I need lays on the rear of the window and follows it as the window goes up and down. I'll try and get a pic tomorrow and add it on here.

It's called a 'Flipper'  'All Cads' used to list them but I don't see them anymore.

If this is what I think it is, you may have to fabricate one yourself. A friend did that on his 1941 Cadillac four door convertible. It's not something you can simply go out and buy. You might call AllCads. They are scarce enough that there is not enough supply to list them in their on line catalog. Good luck.

This would fit the 40-41 62 series convertibles.  You have stated a 4 door Fleetwood.  If convertible that would be the 75 series and I don't know if the flipper in them is even the same as the 40 62 series cars.

The ones in the link look pretty close. I'll give them a call and see if they can snatch me some measurements for comparison. Thanks

Edited***   Turns out the Chevy ones are only 9 1/2 inches from top to dowel hole. The Cadillac ones are 12". So the search continues.

Yeh, Looks like they are especially long for the rear opening door. Shame that as that was a very good link Brad gave.

The 38 to 40 big series cars are in fact longer. I don't know how people dealt with this problem as almost no one ever parted one out. I have some short ones that are not broken. Maybe they can be modified. Make one out of two.

That looks like a very simple piece to fabricate. A good stainless guy should be able to make that. If you get really stuck post it to me and I’ll make you one.

I suggest you take a better look at one before you over simplify its construction.

Yes. Their construction isn't overly complicated, but also that I don't think would be easily duplicated correctly.

The main shape is constructed of pot aluminium. Then it is wrapped in chrome to give it the shinny look.

I'm thinking of either trying to aluminum braze it back together. Or cut a steel bushing in half, drill and tap one side in the flipper, weld the other half back on, then hone it out so the pin goes back through.

Going to be a job either way i think.
