That option would have to come with either a prepaid divorce or funeral depending on my wife's reaction.

Either way, I'm going to shoot new pictures of the 70.and relist either at the minimum I'd accept for it and no reserve or a $1 starting bid with a reserve unless an interested party steps forward first. Then I can start barking up another tree.

I also neglected to mention (in my frustration) is that he was the lone bidder on my 70 when it was listed. He knows the previous owner and my car he says.

With that said, if it met reserve, he would have been into my car for the purchase price plus shipping. When he bid, this 78 was not listed, I did not know he had it, nor did he know I was interested in this car.

The offer was structured such that since I was coming down anyway to pick up his car, I'd come down loaded on the trailer with the 70, pick up his car and my check and it would be done. Structuring the deal that way essentially put him in possession of the 70 at the cost of his 78 plus the cash difference my way for the 70, which at the end of the day would have been far less than his bid on my car, leaving a healthy projected margin on the back end of the deal.

I was very agreeable to the deal but could never connect with him to say let's do it subject to pre purchase inspection. My calls always went direct to voicemail, and texts came back with several I'll call you laters to I'm on a ship and can't talk right now.

You know what they say about a bird in the hand. Obviously math and logic aren't the seller's strong points. He's obviously a greedy fool (can I say that on here?)

Common courtesy would be to say I'm no longer interested.  I guess courtesy is no longer common.  If he changed his mind, I get it, but at least have the intestinal fortitude and gonads to say so.

Dan you hit the word.

As a person we both know in the CLC said once to me. "Everyone is greedy."  Well I like to modify that and say Yes, but some of us are more greedy than others.

This guy is never going to get that 12,000. I would be surprised if that is a real bid. Maybe it is.

I bet he comes back to you when he realizes it.

Everyone is 'greedy' insofar that everybody is constantly maximizing their best interests as they best see fit. Even altruistic actions are covered by this concept. This is Economics 101.

The seller here, in my view, is not doing this - for reasons best known to him.

I'm not so convinced that I'll even take his phone call if he comes back to me.  If I do, the terms of the deal will be substantially different.  At the end of the day, they're just cars, so that part doesn't bother me.  It's the whole principle of the matter.

For only one reason, he wants more.... and he has every right to ask more. The buyer has every right to pass too.

There are some sellers who are their own worst enemy, so I say good luck with selling the car and move on.

Dan

Unless you struck a deal. The ad is gone.

If your not picking up a car soon, he pulled the ad quicker than I thought!
