   How can you tell if a 59 coupe has been changed into a convertable. Can you be fooled by a data plate. Many have been converted.

There is a hidden VIN (frame serial number), The frame is reinforced on a convertible frame. Vent window are different on a convertible (no latches) the rear wheel wells are different on a convertible body.

Also genuine convertible frames have a small outrigger  each side of the frame about level with the rear of the transmission.

Check the serial # on the top of the frame and find the letter character (3rd place).
