Good job. And thanks for the update-hate when people don't close these threads out.
You say you don't do much electrical...... well you just did! You figured out where the problem was as you say in #7 above. It's all about narrowing down where the problem is and then dissecting that part of the circuit.
Good job.
Jeff

Thanks, and I agree. I hate unfinished stories. I see a lot of those on sites like this, not just about cars, but anything.

I look at it like this, a lot of folks who have been involved in the antique car hobby have passed away. I'm 49 and have a lot of catching up to do. I grew up in an era where there were still pre-computer controlled cars so I'm not completely in the dark. From an early age on the farm, I helped my dad rebuild engines and work on old cars and machinery and I have a decent grasp of mechanical stuff (plus the scars on my knuckles to prove it). I prowl through these boards for every scrap of information I can. Unfortunately, a lot of these threads about pre-war Cadillacs and LaSalles are 10+ years old. Some of the data, particularly about parts and suppliers is no longer valid. It is now up to younger guys like me to carry on where others before have gone, otherwise there won't be anyone left to keep this hobby alive. The least I can do is listen to the advice, apply what I have learned, and report on the outcome. It may help someone else down the line who may encounter the same problems I have had.
