I had overheating/running hot problems with my 63 for many years. I did all sorts of things to correct the issue, 4 row radiator, many flushing's, thermostats, ignition, carburetion, etc. What finally cured the overheating was to install a premium, high quality name brand thermostat. I was using parts store brand thermostats until I bought a thermostat made by a major name brand thermostat manufacturer. It was an instant simple problem solver.

Not saying this is the issue you have, but, if you have one of the economy thermostats in your car, it wouldn't cost much to try a really good thermostat.
