1968 Coupe deVille  " ALL STOCK -  ALL ORIGINAL  35,304  MILES"

Really?   That sure looks like blue Décor fabric on the panel inserts.
Oh wait!  the body tag shows #326 which is Blue Décor fabric interior.

The original owner must have had the dealer redo the interior in blue vinyl  because his wife wanted a Calais.

You know what they say - "Let the Buyer Beware" ! "All Original"  is one of the biggest red flags in today's classic  and collector car advertising vocabulary.

Yup.  I hate how sellers like to throw that word around.

"All original" in their eyes means looks original or restored to stock appearance.

Especially love it when they write "this car is all 100% original. New paint, new top and interior, but 100% original."

Steve Passmore

That also looks like a very unprofessional job, especially the top finish to the seats and the gaps between seat base and back.

Actually it doesn't look that bad. The gap is probably the seatback not down all the way. It might be leather too. However it is missing the buttons!

You know what G said back in the 30s: Tell a Lie, Make it big and Repeat it often; people will start to believe it.

Can you say "faked original"  :P

But why would a 35K mile creampuff need its fabric replaced with vinyl or leather?

Try this one on for size, billed as a "1959 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible 2 Door"

I'll just let it speak for itself.  ::)

That 2-door sure looks like a 4-door. Or maybe the seller means 2-doors on each side? Must be the only Eldorado 4-door Convertible without a top and price 35,5K USD. But as a joke the add is great. Should have been posted 1st of April though...

UGH.    Good luck getting it registered in most States.  It wont pass a safety inspection let alone an inspector who questions why the VIN is for a sedan.     $35000 is a lot of money for a car you can only drive on a repair or dealer plate.

Eric DeVirgilis CLC# 8621

Registration wouldn't be a problem in PA, FWIW.

The zero feedback rings alarm bells too.

Seller says it's a full time convertible.  Lol. Convertible would imply that it had a top and that you could convert it from a closed to an open car.  Wouldn't it technically be a roadster?

No, a Roadster has a folding windscreen.

But the best part of the car is that it has an unbroken horn ring.   That in itself has to be worth a fortune.

What's really, really wrong, is the bloody steering wheel photo has reflected right back up the buyers shorts.  :o

Hope he's wearing undies.

Oh, and if you want a second opinion, I don't care much for his shoes either.

Convertible: The ability to convert. IE, the roof can be up, the roof can be down.

Butchered: Taking a perfectly good 4 door sedan and hacking the roof off.

Flippers.  It's a four letter word.

Just used car dealers that think they're smarter, more clever, and capable of bamboozling those who actually know what they're looking at.  ::)

Ok, I want to dog pile on too.
Why are the AC hoses disconnected - oh wait - without a top what would keep the cool air in the car.

KEVIN,
I took a momentary offense at your term "BUTCHERED".

Have fun,
