Title: Oil Pump on a 38 Lasalle
Post by: 1928isgreat on August 01, 2011, 06:18:33 AM
Hi Guys,

A friend of mine has an Australian bodied 1938 V8 sedan. Can you confirm that there is a gasket between the oil pump and the block, as it was some time since the engine was stripped down.

Regards

Ray

 Yes, there is a gasket.Group 8.3706 (1942 book)
1410842 oil pump to crankcase gasket
   fits 36-38 all v8 and 38-40 all v-16
Strange it fits both 8 and 16. The 39-48 v-8  engines used a different number. Warren

The late V-16 is essentially the same pump except the gears are slightly longer by 1/4 to 3/8 inch.  I can't remember now exactly how much longer.
