Thanks, Warren. That pretty well nails it for me.

As to the pre-fix numbers there was a theory around that "1" related to the 50 series La Salles, "2" to the 60 and 65 series and "3" to the 75 series. So far I think this has some credibility for some early years of the flathead but not so sure about later on. I also need to crawl under the house an check my '38 La Salle block before I'd swear on it.
